More Than a Backpack

Community Spirit Fuels Students’ Academic Success

Each fall, our community partners help Quincy Public Schools (QPS) students start the school year prepared by providing new backpacks filled with school supplies. For families, this support eases back-to-school costs; for students, it means walking into class on the first day ready to learn with confidence.
On Thursday, September 4, every student at six QPS elementary schools—Atherton Hough, Clifford Marshall, Lincoln Hancock, Montclair, Parker, and Snug Harbor—received a new backpack equipped with school supplies. School Committee Members, principals, teachers, QPS leadership, and community partners came together to kick-off the school year and distributed approximately 3,400 backpacks, sending students off to a strong start.
We are especially grateful to the partners who made this effort possible:

  • Cradles to Crayons – Atherton Hough & Lincoln Hancock Elementary Schools
  • Quincy Credit Union – Clifford Marshall Elementary School
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts – Montclair Elementary School
  • Mass Bay Credit Union – Parker Elementary School
  • Granite Telecommunications – Snug Harbor Elementary School

For elementary students, a backpack is more than just a bag of supplies—it’s a message that their community believes in them and supports their success.
The Quincy School-Community Partnership thanks all of the contributing partners, educators, and volunteers who made this year’s initiative possible, showing the power of a community coming together for our students.
